Attention Shutterbugs: Pictures You Have to Take Abroad
A single photograph can bring you back to a special moment and it’s something you will have forever.

I love photography and how a picture is essentially a memory. A single photograph can bring you back to a special moment and it’s something you will have forever. I made an effort to enjoy my time abroad but also document it so I can look back on my experiences. From one shutterbug to another, here are some touristy but fun pictures you have to take when you travel:
Classic English Telephone booth, London
How can you go to London and not take this picture? There are a tons all over but the one across the street from Big Ben gives you the best overall picture!
Abbey Road, London
The Beatles are awesome so make sure to stop by Abbey Road to snap a picture crossing the street! Be warned: people will honk at you so my advice is to get there in the morning.
Royal Guard, London
Nothing is more fun than trying to crack a smile on an English guard! Or any guard for that matter. They have guards in Prague so I couldn’t resist snapping a picture with him as well!
Ice Bar, London
Ice bars are in most major cities so if you didn’t take a picture, did it even happen? Show your friends and family that you lived it up Eskimo style, plus the robes you get are pretty funny to pose in!
I Am Amsterdam, Amsterdam
Blizzard or not (yes there was a blizzard), my friends and I made an effort to take a picture standing in front of the I Am Amsterdam sign! I posed by the “S” because of my last name!
Beer Picture, anywhere
The legal age to drink abroad is 18 so show off that you can legally drink by posing with your beer at a brewery! I went on the Heineken Experience in Amsterdam and it was such a cool experience. In addition, I took tons of pictures with my Guinness’s in Ireland! How could I not?
Eiffel Tower, Paris
A photo shoot in front of the Eiffel Tower? Yes please! When I was in Paris, I was in awe and couldn’t stop taking pictures of the Eiffel Tower. It’s absolutely gorgeous! Grab your friends and have a mini-photo-shoot!
The Lourve, Paris
Da Vinci code style.
Mona Lisa Selfie, Paris
Gotta love selfies by the famous Mona Lisa! Who knew she was so small?
Lock Bridge, Paris
No trip to Paris is complete without a picture by the lock bridge!
Leaning Tower of Pisa, Pisa
It was raining when I went to Pisa and my picture was somewhat of a fail but when done right, this picture will look so cool! Pretend you’re pinching or pushing up the tower and just have fun with it!
Trevi Fountain, Rome
No trip to Rome is complete without a picture in front of the Trevi Fountain, where you throw in a euro coin and make your wish!
The Colosseum, Rome
When I came out of the Metro in Rome, my jaw dropped when I saw the colosseum. I knew that I needed to buy a ticket to take a look inside!
The Piazzale Michelangelo gives amazing panoramic views of the city of Florence!
Hop on a Vespa, anywhere in Italy
Vespas are everywhere in Italy so pretend you’re a local and hop on one to pose for a picture. Just be careful the owner doesn’t show up!
John Lennon Wall, Prague
Feeling artsy? The John Lennon Wall in Prague is filled with awesome sayings, artwork and people’s names with different colors and sizes! It reminded me how small the world really is because I found my sorority on the wall. Not only should you make your mark on the wall but read the phrases written and enjoy your time there. Vandalizing has never been so much fun and don’t forget to snap a picture!
Cliffs of Moher, Ireland
Beware of the wind chill but this spot is a perfect place to have a photo shoot since it’s absolutely breathtaking!
Kissing the Blarney Stone, Ireland
If you get the chance to visit Ireland, gain the gift of eloquence or gab by kissing the Blarney stone! After climbing to the top of the castle, you lean backwards, holding the railing and kiss it. Don’t worry, it’s safe!
Molly Malone Statue, Dublin
The song “Molly Malone” is a popular song that is considered the unofficial anthem of the city of Dublin! Why not snap a picture with her?
One thing to keep in mind is safety. Everyone will know you are visiting so make sure to stick with a group and keep your belongings safe by staying aware.
Have fun and don’t forget to capture these classic study abroad pics! Trust me, it gets to the point where you have so many pictures; you don’t even know what to do. Hello to the endless amount of profile picture options! Happy snapping these “sorry not sorry” cheesy pictures and enjoy your moments of popularity on social media sites. Your Instagram never looked so cool.
