Taking Your Taste-buds to London
By College Tourist of 08/05/12
We would all love to be in London right now. Checking out the gymnastics with Princes William and Harry, or walking through the Mall to catch a glimpse of the changing of the guards. The Olympics and London are the topic du jour and we all want to be best friends with Gabby Douglas or Ryan Lochte.
However, back at home the best we can do is glue ourselves to the TV coverage and cheer loudly…which brings on an appetite. So, how about some great British fare to fuel up for those long hours of TV watching that we seem to all be doing?
Try these British pubs and restaurants around the US (and let us know what you think too).
Close to the College Tourist Team’s heart is Tea and Sympathy at 108 Greenwich ave in NYC . Guinness and Steak pie and Cottage pie are two of our faves, followed by a trip to the lollie shop next door. http://www.teaandsympathynewyork.com/home.php
If you’re heading out for a bite to eat in Chicago give The Red Lion Pub a try at 2446 N Lincoln Ave. The Cornish pasties and English Trifle will make you think you’ve crossed the pond. http://www.redlionchicago.com/
On the West coast, try The Olde Ship British Pub at 1120 West 17th St, Santa Ana CA. Check out the bands with a plate of Bangers and Mash and a sample of one of the more than 20 varieties of beer on tap. http://www.theoldeship.com/index.html
