Where to celebrate the 4th of July while abroad

4th of July is the most American holiday of all time. It’s the day our founding father’s claimed our independence, the day we told the world look out y’all we’re here to stay. Just because you’re abroad and falling in love with Europe does not mean you have to ignore the fact that it’s the best day of the year back in the States. Use this handy guide to help you find 4th of July celebrations in Europe where you can mingle with other Americans, drink beer and overall get star spangled hammered.


Hard Rock Cafe

Okay so this may be a British company but us Americans have adopted it as our own just look at the decor and the menu for the almost 200 locations. Start your morning-or afternoon off at the Hard Rock Cafe Brunch Buffet. They’ll be serving up hometown favorites such as pancakes, donuts and scrambled eggs. Be sure to make a reservation before you go so you are guaranteed a full stack of flappy jacks.

Peggy Sue’s American Diner

Peggy Sue’s goal is to make you feel like you are transported back in time to America in the 1950’s and they do an excellent job of it. This diner has authentic 50’s decor and a jukebox that you can play your favorite old time hits from. Choose from the simple menu of hamburgers, sandwiches, pizzas and hot dogs. Don’t forget you’re celebrating so splurge for the side of fries and a milkshake.


Independence Day Party at the Former Home Of Benjamin Franklin

You read it right. You can party at founding father Benjamin Franklin’s former home in London. Come during lunch time and cheers to his greatness and America with a glass of champagne and a piece of cake. If you want to continue the party take a tour of his home or partake in the historical experience. £8 for the party. Historical experience £3.50.

Silent Disco at Altitude London at Millbank Tower

Celebrate 4th of July overlooking all of London. Start off the night with a casual drink and some food at the Skyloft bar and then continue the party at Altitude London where there will be multiple dance floors with one floor dedicated entirely to American music. Get your ticket for this event early for £14.50 before prices go up to £29.

Dirty Burger

Dirty Burger mixes cool junkyard chic decor, reasonable prices and extraordinary cooking. Each patty is made from a blend of carefully selected cuts of meat that make the perfect blend when topped with various condiments. Don’t forget to try the triple-cooked-hand-cut fries and tempura battered onion rings.

Big Apple Hot Dogs

There are few things more American than eating a hot dog on the 4th of July. Big Apple Hot Dogs isn’t a restaurant but a food truck. They use free range pork and buns baked by the renowned Anderson’s Bakery. Big Apple Hot Dogs offers various sizes of hot dogs, meat combinations and a full range of condiments.


The Drunken Ship

The Drunken Ship is hosting the craziest 4th of July party in Rome. Be prepared to meet and mingle with Americans from all over the country visiting Rome. Make sure you open a tab or have a lot of Euros on you as their drink specials will get you.

If you’re craving a burger but don’t want to hit up the Hard Rock Cafe head to Fonzie Burger House. This place has great food that is reasonably priced. The food options are creative and tasty and even kosher. You have your choice of burgers, sandwiches and even chicken nuggets.

Full Up Club is hosting the most patriotic American-Italian party in the city of Florence. Meet up with fellow Americans to chant USA! USA! USA! and wear our nation’s patriotic colors. Doors open at 11:30 pm.

If you are looking for an American style diner Jailhouse is your place. They serve up stateside favorites such as hamburgers, wings, and good ol’ American beer. They also have live music so after you’ve finished a few Coors Lights you can ask the band to play Party in the USA.
