Your Study Abroad Orientation: 10 Pieces of Clothing You’ll Need to Look & Feel Your Best

What to take abroad and why!

A Jean Jacket

Here’s Why: This is a staple in most American girl’s wardrobes anyway, it is essential not only in covering you when your cold but it also doubles as a make-shift pillow on those long bus trips and has the added benefit of pockets! (Available here)

A (Couple) Rompers

Here’s Why: I own at least ten different rompers: tube top rompers, deep ‘V’ rompers, short rompers, long rompers, etc. Rompers are not only very in right now, but they are also very practical for your abroad travels. They have all the comfort of a dress with the added benefit of crotch coverage! (Available here)

A Good Pair of Sunglasses:

Here’s Why: Whether you want to hide those jet-lagged eyes from your long plane ride or a long night at a dance notorious club, a good pair of sunglasses are essential in appearing put together. (Available here)

Long Dresses:

Here’s Why: You can rest your legs in any position you want (except maybe above your head) without looking unladylike or unflattering (Available here)

Baseball Cap:

Here’s Why: If you’re like me and you haven’t been given the gift of perfect hair after 24 hours of not showering than you should stock up on some stylish baseball caps. Whether you sport your favorite sports team or the label, “life is good” a baseball cap is a notorious versatile style item. It covers up your greasy, unkept hair, making sure you look presentable, sporty, and most importantly, adorable! (Available here)

Palazzo Pants:

Here’s why: Though I was skeptical at first, I am definitely a believer in the palazzo pants after going abroad with them. They have all the practicality of a long skirt with the added bonus of trendiness. They feel like pajama pants and look like you major in fashion.  (Available here)

 A Flannel:

Here’s Why: A button-up flannel is a must these days. Not only can it be worn as a regular shirt, once it gets too hot to wear it is VERY fashionable these days to tie that same flannel around your waist. Celebrities have been seen sporting this look a lot lately; you’ll not only look on top of your style game, but effortlessly innovative! (Available here)

Here’s why: during these trips you’ll be exploring various positions to keep yourself comfortable while scrunched into not so comfortable seats. I found myself with my legs up on the back of the seat in front of me most of the time. Had I been in flip-flops these kind of positions would not have been favored by the person sitting in front of me. Do yourself a favor and bring some fashionable kicks and expand your range of positions without offending those around you! (Available here)

A Handbag That Doubles as a Shoulder Bag:

Here’s why: Because you can wear it two different ways it appears as if you have brought two separate but equally as fashionable bags. As a perk you can relieve either your shoulder or forearm after they’ve had enough. (Available here)handbag

 An Oversized White T-Shirt:

Here’s Why: It’s an easy classic, throw it on with anything; a pair of leggings, jeans, shorts, your palazzo pants, etc. It’s especially handy when travelling in hot areas, a light, loose tee won’t attract the sun, just the locals 😉 (Available here)
